The 2nd annual Eye Contact Experiment is exploding with people from all over the world rushing in to host and participate in what’s shaping up to be the biggest year yet! Last year over 100,000 people from more than 151 different cities participated in sharing eye contact with strangers in public spaces to re-build a sense of human connection right around the globe. “This year we’ve already had over 40 cities sign up to host and we’re still 1 month away from the event!” said Michelle Passmore, one of the assistant organisers of the event.
The Liberators International are the social movement behind this global activation and they aim to double those numbers by working with experienced city hosts who participated in last years event. “We’re inviting everyone to be a part of this inspiring global action for peace, minority groups, refugees, disabled people and the elderly are invited to take an active part along side everybody at this event. What’s beautiful about the eye contact experiment is how simple, yet profound the experience can be. You don’t even need to speak the same language to be able to feel the positive effects sharing a minute of silent eye contact with a stranger or friend. The desire to connect more deeply and authentically with ourselves & our community is a universal desire being expressed by the people in this event.” Said Peter Sharp, Founder of The Liberators.
To give you an idea of what’s to come here’s the video from last years amazing event.
There is still plenty of time to join and or host an event in your own city so it’s best to join the global event page here. Once you’ve joined the facebook page it’s important that you register & contribute for official communications, rewards & important info here.
